Popplet is a tool to visually present informational text, organize ideas while brainstorming, as well as have multiple users collaborate to create a board.
Features include adding text, linking multiple topics graphically, and embedding various formats of media to provide multiple points of access to accommodate many learning styles. This example was created for Government students mapping the structure of the executive branch as outlined in Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution. Included are images outlining the departments & agencies, a link directly to the White House website with supplemental information, as well as 2 videos explaining the concepts. |

This example comes from the Popplet website where users of the tool have created their board and shared it with the Public. One benefit of using many of these Web 2.0 tools is the work of other teachers is easily shared within their community and is free for others to use for supplementing instruction with other forms of content.
Popplet boards can be linked, shared, or embedded within your own website, whether you created it or not. |

This was a student-created board that was a traditional textbook reading assignment, just demonstrated in another medium. See screenshot for the requirements.
For this submission, my feedback to the student will be to add a picture, maybe embed a video with a couple bullets points summarizing what was presented, or include talking QR Code image linked to a student audio recording explaining the literary works and political philosophy contributions of each Enlightenment Philosopher. This student would be using a combination of apps that increases the rigor of the original task as well as forcing the student to present the content through multiple literacy avenues. |
