Below you will find my schedule.. Upperclassman will take Government the first semester, and then transition to Economics during 2nd Semester. Conversely, most of you in Economics 1st Semester will take Government 2nd Semester. World History & AP U.S. History are a year long courses for most of those registered. Independent Study Courses: See criteria if interested in taking my Independent Study courses. Students enrolled in my independent course offerings must report to my room each day on time. Grading
- Grades are issued using a total points scale, with assignment weights built into the point value. For example in a given unit/chapter, a homework assignment may be worth 10 points, whereas a project may be worth 100 points.
- There is a midterm exam for year long courses. All courses will have a final exam. It counts as a test during the respective quarter given.
- Deadlines are given well in advance. All assignments are due by each assignment's expiration date. Late submissions will be subjected to a 30% reduction in grade earned for up to 2 weeks beyond the original due date.
- Summative assessments (Tests) are competency based gateway assignments, meaning you must demonstrate mastery to move on in the course. Final summative test scores are determined by averaging the original score (1st attempt) with the highest score earned on subsequent attempts. It is your responsibility to seek out help, study resources, etc. in the event you struggle. I am here to help you and ensure you learn the material.
- All assignments must be submitted through EDU 2.0 unless otherwise instructed. This portal is where marks on individual assignments are recorded. Harmony grade reflects current overall quarter grade, listed as EDU 2.0 Portfolio.
- Any instances of academic dishonesty results in no credit for the assignment. This includes copy and pasting without giving proper credit to the source, as well as paraphrasing another person's idea without proper citations.
- Come prepared. (On time with charged Chromebook, paper, writing utensil, homework, headphones/earbuds)
- Cell phones are not to be used during class time without permission.
- Take pride in your performance. The accountable standard is EXCELLENCE.
- Some of the best learning opportunities come from failure.... you will have opportunities to try again.
- Hold yourself accountable to the standard.
- Time missed in class is your responsibility and you are accountable as deadlines are maintained regardless.
- This room is ours.... keep it nice please... Respect our stuff and the people here.
- Individual grades, status, and other concerns are not to be discussed with me unless I bring it up during class time.
- Students contact me by messaging in EDU 2.0
- Passes out of the room are dictated on an as needed basis determined by the teacher.
- Other details we will work out....
- 1st offense The “look”/verbal warning if necessary (Ask)
- 2nd offense Verbal warning (Tell)
- 3rd offense Bye Bye The first two steps may be skipped at teacher’s discretion (ie. cussing/profanity) (Referral)
- *Any situation not covered by the above will be dealt with by conference as needed, and Mr. Painter reserves the right to deal with any situation in the manner with the best interest of the class.
- There is zero tolerance for student apathy and nonsense in our class. Your grade and what you get out of the course is a true reflection of the effort you put forth in your learning.
- Do what is right, be respectful, act responsibly- the class will move extremely fast-- outside studying is a must—we will not wait for you.
- This class is what you make of it. I have a short memory and do not hold grudges. As long as you respect your classmates and me, I will do the same for you. The projects, discussions, tasks, readings, role-playings, etc. are all meant for your benefit as a student and make the class more enjoyable. If you follow the rules accordingly, come to class prepared and participate actively, you will succeed. Be ready to work and learn.
