The rational behind choosing this tool was two-fold. One, I needed the capability of an easy and efficient way for them to access each others' works. Secondly, my goal was for the products be be engaging and visually appealing so they would look at the info with multiple literary points of access. Because I am assessing them on their mastery of specific principles of Rome and not their skills in graphic design, this tool provided the capability without the students spending too much time on "bells & whistles" and more time on research and application with the content.

For this assignment, students were to find contemporary examples of songs that exemplified the knight codes from our study of the Medieval Europe. As a group, each table was to put together a Padlet board full of Spotify songs and identify specific lyrics that best meet the criteria of chivalry. A screenshot of the assignment is below.
My reasoning behind selecting this tool were many. I needed a tool that would be collaborative and sharable because I wanted an efficient way for students to share their songs without using much class time. In addition, I needed a tool that supported both text for making the connection between Medieval literature and contemporary examples of the same concept. Also, digital media linking so students have access to their members' work was also important for increasing engagement, as well as ease of access to the songs in one location. |
